Meet the Team
Clark Power
Clark Power is a Port Alberni son; born and raised in the Valley he has a fundamental understanding of the area, its people, and the shared tradition of hard work. Professionally focused early, Clark achieved his Real Estate License at the age of twenty-three and has spent his career gaining the trust of his growing clientele through exemplary service. His goal-orientation translates into standout customer service as Clark believes “your goal is my goal”. He does this by old-fashioned listening, knowing the market, straight talk, and collaborating with other Realtors to satisfy clients. In addition, he was a licensed Mortgage Consultant for 4 years, making his extensive knowledge second-to-none. This standard of excellence has led to his membership in the RE/MAX President’s Club and the RE/MAX 100% Club. Yet, it is return business and referrals from happy customers that prove his worth. Clark Power’s Real Estate philosophy is clear: work hard, treat people fairly, give honest advice, and success will follow.
Mentored by his Father, Clark understood what true success meant from a young age. Clark’s Dad, Blaine Power, was a faller by trade and took pride supporting his family with a meat-and-potatoes strategy of showing up ready to work hard every day. Clark took this strategy to heart by working hard, but putting his wife Erin and son Blake first. In fact, his In-Laws Lloyd and Shirley Fairley live next door, his Mother BJ Power lives just around the corner, and his sister Lora Jones and her family live five minutes away. This close-knit family demonstrates the true essence of Port Alberni – inclusive, safe, and welcoming.
Clark’s Father’s commitment to working with his hands was an important example growing up. As proof, Clark has fully renovated his own home, learning all stages of construction, and most importantly finishing the job; an experience that offers clients a unique perspective when assessing properties. Furthermore, his Dad’s example translated into a shared passion for drag racing. Enjoying the races with his Father inspired Clark to purchase a 1970 Dodge Dart and take up drag racing after his Father passed away. The Dart’s 500 cubic inch Indy Motor combined with its NOS Fogger System has accelerated car and driver to 175 mph at the Alberni Airport quarter mile, fast enough for a 5th place finish and a share in the prize money. Currently, Clark is re-building his Father’s original 1969 440 Hurst Barracuda with a twin turbo big block in anticipation of a 6-second quarter mile at 200 mph or better. Parallel to his professional career, racing has taught Clark to take risks, develop knowledge through experience, and trust his skill in order to succeed.
Sonja
Sonja Sutton is a hometown girl. Raised amid the Port Alberni valley peaks, she has embraced a life of adventure, small-town community, and enduring friendships. Sonja’s outstanding character extends easily into her chosen career in Real Estate; helping people find their joy is what she does best. Sonja earned her Real Estate License in 2007 and has been an integral part of the Clark Power Real Estate Team since 2006. Her meticulous attention to detail helps facilitate the organizational aspects of the Team; deftly coordinating listings, contracts, and communication make the Team successful. Sonja’s trustworthy disposition endears her to customers and they often become friends. This is the personal connection to be expected from the Clark Power Real Estate Team.
Yet, Sonja Sutton is not all business. You can also find her defying gravity astride her mountain bike at the apex of her ride; or hugging the hump at top speed on her pink Jamis road bike (that’s right PINK). She bungee jumps, rock climbs, cross-country mountain bikes, and will pick the hard way down a ski hill. She also has a standing annual sponsorship for the Log Train Trail Marathon because of her athletic focus. Sonja’s commitment to living life to the fullest is also expressed in her healthy lifestyle, meditation practice, and her dedication to earning her Reiki Certificate. Yet, Sonja creates balance in her life by grounding herself with family and friends. Her down-to-earth essence makes her the go-to-gal in times of need. She delights in the success of others and it shows.
Sonja shares her valley escapades and country home with her daughter McKinley and husband Gary. Gary is a volunteer firefighter in Port Alberni, an opportunity that is not only a great service to the community, but has allowed Sonja and Gary to build treasured friendships in the place they love. Sonja’s uplifting sense of community illustrates the value of being a part of such a tight-knit town, but it is her absolute delight in West Coast living that brings Sonja to life. Each adrenaline rush has taught her to listen to her intuition, trust her capabilities, and take a chance. This standard of excellence translates perfectly into her Real Estate career.
